Car Rental
If you are renting a car in Maasai Mara, ensure that you have a reliable GPS system or a detailed map. From the main entrance of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, head southeast towards the Sekenani Gate. Once you pass through the gate, follow the main road for approximately 15 kilometers. Look for signs indicating the direction to Bateleur Camp. After about 30 minutes of driving, you will see a sign directing you to the camp. Turn left and follow the dirt road for another 5 kilometers until you reach andBeyond Bateleur Camp. Note that the roads can be bumpy, so drive cautiously. Parking is available at the camp.
Private Transfer
For a more comfortable option, consider booking a private transfer service from your accommodation in Maasai Mara to andBeyond Bateleur Camp. Many lodges and hotels offer this service, which can be arranged in advance. The driver will pick you up at your lodge and transport you directly to the camp. This option typically costs between $50 and $100 USD depending on the distance from your lodge. Ensure to confirm the cost beforehand.
Public Transportation (Matatus)
If you are on a budget, you can take a matatu (shared minibus) from a nearby settlement or your lodge to the nearest town, such as Narok. From Narok, you would need to find a matatu heading to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon reaching the main entrance, inform the driver or conductor that you are heading to Bateleur Camp. They will typically drop you off at a point where you can hire a local taxi or arrange for a short transfer to the camp. The total cost for this journey may vary but expect to spend around $10 to $20 USD for the matatu rides. Keep in mind that this option may take longer and require some negotiation for the taxi fare.
