The Historic Old Standard Bank Building: A Monument of Nairobi

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), exit the KICC and head towards Uhuru Highway. Turn left onto Uhuru Highway and walk for about 10 minutes. As you walk, you will see the Nairobi National Museum on your right. Continue walking until you reach the roundabout at the intersection with Kenyatta Avenue. Take the first exit onto Kenyatta Avenue and walk for about 5 minutes. The Old Standard Bank Building, where the Monument is located, will be on your left.

• Public Bus

  From the Nairobi Railway Station, take a matatu (public minibus) heading to Kenyatta Avenue. Once you board, inform the conductor that you want to get off at the Old Standard Bank Building. The ride should take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive, the Monument is located adjacent to the Old Standard Bank Building.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle from one of the bike-sharing stations around Nairobi. Start at the Nairobi National Park and head towards the city center via Lang'ata Road. Merge onto Uhuru Highway and continue cycling towards Kenyatta Avenue. Turn left onto Kenyatta Avenue and cycle for about 10 minutes. The Old Standard Bank Building will be on your left, and you can park your bicycle nearby.
