If you are driving, start from the town of Makutano. Head northwest on the main road toward Kapenguria. After approximately 15 kilometers, keep an eye out for signs indicating Tartar Falls. You will turn left onto a dirt road that leads directly to the falls. The road can be bumpy, so drive carefully. The falls are located about 5 kilometers down this road. Make sure to park your vehicle at the designated parking area before proceeding to the falls on foot.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Makutano to Kapenguria. The fare is approximately 50 KES per person. Inform the driver that you wish to stop at Tartar Falls. Once you reach the closest drop-off point, you will need to walk approximately 5 kilometers along a dirt path to reach the falls. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
Walking
If you are already near Tartar Falls, you can hike there by following local trails. Make sure to ask locals for guidance to ensure you stay on the right path. It is advisable to go in groups for safety and to enhance the experience, as the area can be remote and quiet.
