Car
If you are traveling by car within Taita Hills, start your journey from Voi town. Head south on the A109 highway towards Maungu. After approximately 25 kilometers, you will reach the junction at Maungu. Turn left onto the Unnamed Road at the junction, following the signs for Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary. Continue along this road for about 10 kilometers until you reach the sanctuary entrance, which is marked by a sign. Please note that you might need to pay a small entrance fee upon arrival.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Voi to Maungu. The fare is usually around 100-150 KES. Upon arrival in Maungu, ask the local drivers for a matatu heading towards Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary or for a nearby drop-off point. If no direct matatus are available, you may need to hire a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) for a short ride to the sanctuary, which should cost you about 200-300 KES. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.

If you are already within walking distance of Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary, you can easily reach it by following the Unnamed Road from Maungu. Walk towards the sanctuary, which is approximately 10 kilometers away. Be sure to carry enough water and wear comfortable shoes, as it may take 2-3 hours depending on your pace.
