Car
If you are driving, begin your journey from the main town of Tsavo, such as Voi. Head southeast on the A109 highway towards the town of Kibwezi. After approximately 50 kilometers, take the exit onto the C95 road towards Chyulu Hills. Continue on this road for about 30 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Chyulu Hills National Park. From here, follow the signs to the various viewpoints and the peak itself. Be aware that the roads can be rugged and may require a 4x4 vehicle, especially during the rainy season.
Public Transportation
To reach Chyulu by public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Voi to Kibwezi. The journey may take around 1.5 to 2 hours and costs approximately 200-300 KES. Once in Kibwezi, you will need to arrange for a local taxi or a private hire vehicle to take you to Chyulu Hills National Park, which is about 30 kilometers away. Taxi fares can vary, but expect to pay around 1500-2500 KES depending on negotiation. Ensure to confirm the return trip with the driver to avoid getting stranded.
Guided Tour
Consider booking a guided tour that includes transportation to Chyulu. Many tour companies in the Tsavo region offer packages that cover transportation, park entry fees, and guided hikes. This option typically costs more (around 5000-10000 KES per person) but provides a hassle-free experience, as the tour guide will handle all logistics, including park entrance fees.
