Getting there

Car

If you are driving, start from the center of Watamu. Head south on the Malindi-Watamu Road (B8). After approximately 2 kilometers, turn left onto a dirt road towards Mida Creek. Follow the signs for Mida Creek, and you will find Lichthaus located at the creek’s edge. There is no entry fee, but ensure your vehicle is suitable for dirt roads.

Matatu (Public Minibus)

To reach Lichthaus via public transportation, take a matatu from Watamu town heading towards Malindi. Inform the conductor you would like to stop at Mida Creek. The fare is around 50-100 KES. Once you arrive at Mida Creek, you may need to walk a short distance to Lichthaus. Look for signs or ask locals for directions.

Bicycle

If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Watamu town. Set off towards the Malindi-Watamu Road (B8) and then follow the same route as cars, turning left onto the dirt road towards Mida Creek. It should take about 20-30 minutes depending on your pace. There are no additional costs apart from the rental fee.

Walking

For the more adventurous, you can walk from Watamu town to Lichthaus. It's about a 3-4 km walk and will take roughly 45 minutes. Head south on the Malindi-Watamu Road and then turn left onto the dirt road at the Mida Creek sign. This option is free but ensure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
