Dungan Mosque: A Unique Gem of Karakol

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to the city of Karakol, which is approximately 150 kilometers from Naryn city. Take the A365 road towards the east, following signs for Karakol. Upon entering Karakol, look for Bektenova Street. Dungan Mosque is located at F9WR+W7W, Bektenova str. Once you reach Bektenova Street, you can easily spot the mosque, known for its unique architecture and vibrant colors. Parking is available nearby, but it may require a short walk to the entrance.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a marshrutka (minibus) from Naryn to Karakol. Buses and marshrutkas leave regularly from the Naryn bus station, and the journey takes about 2 to 3 hours. Upon arriving at the Karakol bus station, you can either walk or take a taxi to reach Dungan Mosque. Walking will take approximately 15-20 minutes. To walk, exit the bus station and head towards the city center, then turn onto Bektenova Street, where the mosque is located at F9WR+W7W.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Naryn directly to Dungan Mosque in Karakol. This option is more expensive, with costs typically ranging from 2,500 to 4,000 Kyrgyz Som depending on negotiation and traffic conditions. The journey takes about 2-2.5 hours. Once you arrive, the mosque is easily accessible and well-signposted.
