Getting There

Car

If you're driving from the capital of Bokeo Province, Pak Beng, head southeast on Route 2 (also known as the National Route 2) for approximately 20 kilometers. After passing through the town of Pha Khao, keep an eye out for a small unmarked road on your left. Take this road and continue for another 5 kilometers; you will see signs indicating the direction to Kao Rao Cave. There is ample parking available near the cave entrance.
Public Transportation

To reach Kao Rao Cave via public transportation, take a local bus from Pak Beng to the nearby town of Pha Khao. Buses run regularly, and the fare is approximately 15,000 LAK (Lao Kip). Once you arrive in Pha Khao, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a motorbike taxi for about 30,000 LAK to take you the remaining 5 kilometers to the cave entrance. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
Walking

For the adventurous, if you are already in Pha Khao, you can walk to Kao Rao Cave. From the center of Pha Khao, head east on the main road for about 5 kilometers. The walk will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Please wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the path can be uneven and rural.
