Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town center of Bokeo Province. Head east on Route 2 toward the town of Oudomxay. Continue on Route 2 for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 1C. Turn left onto Route 1C and drive for another 50 kilometers. You will see signs for Nong Khiaw. Follow the signs and turn right onto the road leading to Nong Khiaw. The viewpoint is located on a hill just outside the town. Parking is available near the base of the viewpoint.
Public Transportation
To reach Nong Khiaw by public transportation, first take a local bus from Bokeo Province to Oudomxay. The bus ride costs around 30,000 LAK and takes approximately 2 hours. Once in Oudomxay, transfer to a bus heading to Nong Khiaw. This second leg of the journey costs about 40,000 LAK and takes around 1.5 hours. Upon arriving in Nong Khiaw, you can either walk to the viewpoint, which is about a 30-minute uphill trek, or hire a local tuk-tuk for approximately 20,000 LAK to take you directly to the viewpoint.
Trekking
If you prefer an adventurous route, you can trek to Nong Khiaw Viewpoint from the town of Nong Khiaw. Start your trek from the village center, following the marked trails leading up to the viewpoint. The trek typically takes about 1 hour and is moderately difficult. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring plenty of water. There are no additional costs for the trek, but you might want to consider hiring a local guide for around 50,000 LAK for a more informative experience.
