Getting There

    Start at the center of Muang Champassak, near the Champasak Palace. Head south on Road 13 towards the Mekong River. Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction where you will see a sign for Vat Phou. Turn left at this junction and walk for another 1.5 kilometers. Follow the signs to Vat Phou, which will be on your right. The path will take you through a scenic area with local shops and beautiful views.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Muang Champassak. Begin your journey at the main square and head south on Road 13 towards the Mekong River. After approximately 1 kilometer, you will reach a junction with a sign pointing towards Vat Phou. Turn left and continue on this road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see signs guiding you to Vat Phou, which is located on your right side. The ride is pleasant and offers views of the countryside.

  • Tuk-tuk

    From your accommodation in Muang Champassak, ask your hotel or a local to arrange a tuk-tuk for you to Vat Phou. The ride usually takes around 15 minutes. The driver will know the location well. Once you arrive, the entrance to Vat Phou will be clearly marked. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, typically around 20,000 to 30,000 LAK per person.
