Limestone Forest Viewpoint: A Panoramic Vista

The Limestone Forest Viewpoint, also known as Phou Pha Marn, is a roadside attraction that reveals the beauty of the Phoun Hin Boun National Protected Area in Khammouane Province, Laos. This viewpoint provides an expansive vista of steep, rocky karst hills rising through the dense Hin Boun Forest, one of the largest limestone forests in Asia.The Hin Boun Forest is a well-preserved wilderness, teeming with diverse flora, fauna, and wildlife, including macaques, gibbons, elephants, numerous bat species, and even seldom-seen tigers. The viewpoint is a popular stop for travelers exploring the Thakhek Loop, a 450 km route that circles the national protected area.Green Discovery, an adventure company based in Laos, has established a restaurant at the viewpoint and offers activities such as zip lines, a spider web bridge, and fixed climbing ropes. These additions allow visitors to immerse themselves further in the landscape and gain even better views of the Hin Boun Forest. The viewpoint also serves as a tourist information center for Khammouane Province.
