Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Phousi Hill, start on Route 13. Head towards Luang Prabang. Once you reach the city, look for signs indicating the direction to the city center. Phousi Hill is located near the center, just a short drive from most hotels. You can park your car at the designated parking areas near the hill. There may be a small fee for parking, usually around 10,000 LAK (approximately $1 USD). After parking, it's a short walk to the base of the hill.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Phousi Hill using public transportation, you can take a local bus or a tuk-tuk from various locations in Sainyabuli Province to Luang Prabang. Buses typically leave from central bus stations and cost around 30,000 LAK (approximately $3 USD) for a ticket. Once you arrive in Luang Prabang, you can either walk or take a tuk-tuk to the base of Phousi Hill. Tuk-tuk rides within the city usually cost between 20,000 to 50,000 LAK (around $2 to $5 USD). Ensure you ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance of Phousi Hill.

• Walking

  Once you arrive at the base of Phousi Hill, you will need to climb approximately 328 steps to reach the summit. The path is well-maintained, and there are resting spots along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, as it can be hot during the day. The entrance to the hill is free, and you can enjoy stunning views of Luang Prabang and the Mekong River from the top.
