Discover more about Manda de Laos

Manda de Laos is more than just a restaurant; it's an immersive experience into Lao culinary heritage. Opened in 2015, this fine dining establishment is nestled in Luang Prabang's Ban That Luang village, beside three tranquil lily ponds recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995. The restaurant specializes in traditional Lao family dishes, offering a creative presentation of time-honored recipes. The restaurant's origin is rooted in the culinary traditions of Mama Phiew, born in Luang Prabang in 1930. She learned to cook traditional Lao dishes from her mother, passing this love and knowledge to her children. Manda de Laos is dedicated to sharing how one cooked and ate in the past, preserving the spirit and traditions of Mama Phiew. The ambiance is enhanced by the restaurant's setting, with dining areas overlooking lotus blossoms and floating lilies, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere, especially in the evening when the ponds are illuminated by candles. Signature dishes include Khoua Sin Kwai (wok-fried buffalo), Laap Moo (minced pork salad), and Ping Pa (grilled fish with lemongrass and Lao herbs). The restaurant also offers signature cocktails featuring Lao ingredients. Guests can expect an unforgettable culinary journey that celebrates Lao flavors, traditions, and the wisdom of ancestors.
