    Getting There

    Walking

    From Vang Vieng town center, walk south. Follow the main road and turn right at the end towards Tmark Resort. Continue on the dirt path past Jamee Guesthouse to Vang Vieng Resort. Enter Vang Vieng Resort and pay the 5,000 LAK fee to cross the bridge. After crossing the bridge over the Nam Song River, turn left and walk 200 meters along the path. You'll reach a ticket booth where you can purchase your 15,000 LAK entry ticket to the cave. Ascend the approximately 200 steps to the cave entrance.

    Motorbike/Bicycle

    Rent a motorbike or bicycle in Vang Vieng. Follow the main road south and cross the orange bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn left and follow the path to the cave entrance. Pay the 5,000 LAK fee to cross the bridge and a 3,000 LAK parking fee for the motorbike. Purchase your 15,000 LAK entry ticket to the cave. Be aware of potential motorbike scams in Laos.

    Tuk-Tuk

    Hire a tuk-tuk from Vang Vieng town center. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey. A typical tuk-tuk ride to Tham Chang Cave costs approximately 10,000-15,000 LAK per person. The tuk-tuk will drop you off near the entrance of Vang Vieng Resort. Pay the 5,000 LAK fee to cross the bridge and purchase your 15,000 LAK entry ticket to the cave.

    Visit early or late in the day to avoid crowds.

    Tham Chang Cave, also known as Jang Cave, is a prominent natural and historical site located a short distance from Vang Vieng town center. In the early 19th century, the cave served as a crucial defensive position against Yunnanese Chinese invaders. Its elevated location provided a clear view of the surrounding landscape, allowing defenders to monitor approaching threats.Today, Tham Chang welcomes tourists to explore its geological wonders. The cave features numerous stalactites and stalagmites, formed over centuries. The interior is well-lit, and pathways with stairs and rails guide visitors through the various chambers. The main chamber is quite large, and the cave extends deep into the mountain.In addition to the cave itself, the surrounding area offers other attractions. At the base of the staircase leading to the cave is a 'Blue Lagoon', a pool of greenish-blue water where visitors can swim. The water's color comes from minerals that collect as it passes through the mountain. The site also provides viewpoints with scenic views of the Nam Song River and the Vang Vieng landscape.
