Public Transport
From Riga, take a bus to Sabile or Kandava, the main towns in the Abava River Valley. LapLine operates buses from Riga to Ārieši, which is near Abava. From either town, local buses or taxis can provide access to specific points along the river. Bus tickets from Riga to Ārieši cost approximately $3 - $16. Driving
From Riga, drive towards Tukums and then follow the P130 highway towards Kandava and Sabile. The drive takes approximately 2-2.5 hours. Parking is available in the towns and at some of the popular tourist sites like Abava Waterfall. Be aware that parking may be limited during peak season. Driving from Riga to Abava costs approximately $30-$43.
Walking
Once in the Abava River Valley, walking is a great way to explore the area. Well-marked trails connect many of the attractions, such as the Abava Waterfall and the hillforts. From the Abava pagasts bus stop, it is approximately a 1-kilometer walk to the Abava Waterfall, following signs towards 'Abavas rumba'. The walk takes about 15-20 minutes through the scenic landscape.
