Bauska Castle Museum is situated at the meeting point of the Mūsa and Mēmele rivers, where they converge to form the Lielupe, offering picturesque views. The castle is composed of two sections: the ruins of the Livonian Order Castle built in the mid-15th century and the newer, mostly intact, fortified manor house constructed in the late 16th century by the Duke of Courland.The castle's oldest section, the Livonian Order Castle, was built in the mid-15th century as a fortress with artillery cannons. Today, only ruins remain. Visitors can explore the ruins and climb the reconstructed central tower for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The newer section, the residence of the Duke of Courland, showcases mannerism-era architecture and design. The partially preserved residence features exhibitions, including the history of Bauska Castle, interiors, costumes and jewelry from the Duchy of Courland, and military fortifications.Visitors can explore the castle's history through exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays. The museum also hosts events and seasonal activities.
