Train
From Riga, head to Riga Central Station (Rīgas Centrālā Dzelzceļa Stacija), which is located at 1/3 Stacijas laukums. Take a train towards Jelgava. Trains run frequently, so check the schedule for departure times. The journey lasts approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Jelgava Station, exit the station and turn right onto Zemgales iela. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Lielā iela. Turn left onto Lielā iela, and you will find Jelgava Castle at number 2 on your left.
Bus
To get to Jelgava by bus, go to the Riga International Bus Station (Rīgas Starptautiskā Autoosta) located at 1, Prāgas iela. Purchase a ticket to Jelgava at the ticket counter or from the automatic machines. Buses to Jelgava depart regularly. The journey will take about 1 hour. Upon arrival at the Jelgava bus station, exit and head straight down Lielā iela. Continue walking until you reach Jelgava Castle at Lielā iela 2.
Bicycle
If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Riga. Start your journey from the Old Town and head towards the Daugava River. Follow the riverbank path towards the south, which will lead you to Jelgava. The ride is approximately 40 km and takes around 2-3 hours, depending on your cycling speed. Once you arrive in Jelgava, navigate to Lielā iela and head towards number 2 to find Jelgava Castle.
Walking
Walking from Riga to Jelgava is a long journey, approximately 40 km. If you are up for the challenge, start from the Old Town and head southeast towards the Daugava River. Follow the river path and then take the walking trails leading to Jelgava. This could take you around 8-10 hours, so it is advisable to start early in the morning. Once in Jelgava, proceed to Lielā iela 2 to find Jelgava Castle.
