Afqa: A Hidden Gem in the Lebanese Mountains

Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Batroun, start by heading towards the main road, which is the 'Batroun - Tripoli Road' (also known as the Coastal Road). Walk north along this road until you reach the intersection with 'Jbeil Road' (also known as the Byblos Road). Continue straight along the Coastal Road for about 5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views of the Mediterranean Sea. You will eventually see signs for Afqa. As you approach Afqa, look for the turnoff to the left that leads to the village. Follow the signs that indicate the direction to Afqa.

• Public Transport (Mini-Bus)

  From the Batroun bus station located near the old souk, take a mini-bus heading towards Tripoli. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at Afqa, as some buses may not stop directly in the village. The journey usually takes about 15-20 minutes. When you arrive at Afqa, you can walk to your destination, as the village is small and walkable.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct option, you can hire a taxi from anywhere in Batroun. Simply ask for a taxi at your location or use a local ride-hailing app if available. Instruct the driver to take you to Afqa. The ride will take approximately 15 minutes and should cost around 10,000 to 15,000 LBP, depending on your starting point.
