Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Tour Beirut's Walking Tour.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are near the Hamra district, head east on Hamra Street towards Bliss Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the American University of Beirut (AUB) campus. Turn right onto the AUB campus and walk along its boundary until you reach the end of the campus. Exit onto Abdul Aziz Street and continue straight until you reach Martyr's Square. The walking tour starting point is located in the square.
Public Transport (Bus)
If you are in the Gemmayzeh area, you can take bus number 3 from the main road. Board the bus heading towards Martyr's Square. The journey should take around 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. Disembark at the Martyr's Square stop. Once you get off the bus, walk into the square; the walking tour starts there.
Metro (Future Option)
Currently, Beirut does not have a metro system. However, if you are staying in an area where a future metro line is planned, make sure to check local transportation updates for future access to Martyr's Square.
Shared Taxi (Service Taxi)
You can find shared taxis (service taxis) in various neighborhoods. If you are in the Downtown area, look for a taxi with a sign that says 'Martyr's Square.' It's best to share with other passengers to keep costs low. The ride will take about 5-10 minutes depending on traffic. Tell the driver your destination, and they will drop you off right at Martyr's Square.
