Getting There

Walking

From the center of Bchaaleh village, the trails are easily accessible on foot. Follow the marked paths leading from the village square, keeping an eye out for signs indicating the different trail routes. The starting points for most trails are within a 10-15 minute walk from the main square. Note that some trails involve steep inclines and uneven terrain.
Public Transport

While public transport directly to Bchaaleh is limited, you can take a bus or taxi to Batroun, the nearest major town. From Batroun, hire a taxi or arrange for a local driver to take you to Bchaaleh. The ride from Batroun to Bchaaleh is approximately 30 minutes. Expect to pay around LBP 50,000-75,000 for the taxi fare, depending on your negotiation skills.
Driving

If driving from Beirut, take the coastal highway north towards Batroun. Exit at Batroun and follow the signs towards Bchaaleh. The drive from Batroun to Bchaaleh is approximately 30 minutes. Parking is available in the village center, but it can be limited during peak season. Parking is typically free.

Bchaaleh Trails Association is dedicated to preserving and promoting the natural and cultural heritage of Bchaaleh, a charming village nestled in the Batroun District of North Lebanon. Situated at an altitude ranging from 1,200 to 1,350 meters, Bchaaleh offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains. The association has developed a network of seven hiking trails that wind through the village, showcasing its most famous attractions, including the ancient olive trees known as the "Sisters Olive Trees of Noah". These trees are believed to be among the oldest in the world, with some estimated to be around 6,000 years old. The trails vary in length and difficulty, catering to all ages and fitness levels. Along the way, hikers can discover historical landmarks such as the Al Hossen fortress, showcasing Hellenistic and early Christian architecture, as well as traditional Lebanese houses, churches, and monasteries. The Bchaaleh Trails project was inaugurated in 2018, with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism and creating job opportunities for the local community. The association also organizes various activities throughout the year, including full moon hikes, sunset hikes, and harvest picnic experiences. Bchaaleh itself is a village steeped in history and culture. Its name, derived from the Syriac "Beit Chaali," means "the place of glorification and adoration". In addition to its ancient olive trees and historical sites, Bchaaleh is known for its production of high-quality olive oil and traditional olive soap. Visitors can also explore the village's religious sites, including the Saint Stephen's Church, one of the largest in the Batroun region, and the Mar Doumit Monastery. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, Bchaaleh Trails offers a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of Lebanon.
