Our Lady of Zahlé and the Bekaa is a prominent Marian shrine located in Zahlé, Lebanon, offering a blend of religious significance and panoramic views. In 1958, Bishop Euthym, driven by his devotion to Our Lady, initiated the construction of this shrine on a hill overlooking Zahlé and the Bekaa Valley. The shrine is crowned by a 10-meter-high bronze statue of the Virgin Mary, sculpted by the Italian artist Pierroti. This statue rests on a 54-meter-high tower, making it visible from various points in Zahlé and the Bekaa Valley. An elevator provides access to a viewing platform at the top, offering sweeping views of the red-roofed city and the valley. The base of the tower houses a small chapel with a seating capacity of approximately 100 people. While the shrine's construction faced delays due to the Lebanese Civil War, it was eventually inaugurated in May 2005 after restoration work on the statue. Today, Our Lady of Zahlé stands as a testament to Lebanese craftsmanship and a place for spiritual reflection, attracting visitors with its architectural beauty and tranquil surroundings.
