Keshet Cave: A Window to the Galilee
Discover the breathtaking views from this unique natural arch in the Upper Galilee, a perfect spot for hiking and rappelling.
Keshet Cave, located in the Adamit Park in the Upper Galilee, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and adventure. The site, whose name translates to 'Arch Cave,' features a large natural arch formed from the remnants of a collapsed cave. Overlooking the Betzet Stream and the surrounding landscape, the arch provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the Galilee, the Mediterranean Sea, and even parts of Lebanon on a clear day. The cave's formation began millions of years ago through karst processes, where rainwater eroded the limestone rock, creating vast underground cavities. The collapse of the cave ceiling left behind the iconic arch, a narrow strip of rock overhanging a deep abyss. Keshet Cave is a popular destination for various activities. Hikers can explore the trails within Adamit Park, with options ranging from accessible paved paths to more challenging routes. Extreme sports enthusiasts are drawn to the cave for rappelling, with anchors embedded in the rock arch. The site is also rich in history, with nearby caves yielding archaeological finds dating back thousands of years. According to local legend, the cave was once a hideout for bandits. The cave is free and open year-round.
