The Kahlil Gibran Museum, located in Bsharri, Lebanon, is a tribute to the life and legacy of the celebrated Lebanese-American poet, artist, and philosopher. The museum is housed in a former monastery, originally a hermitage for monks seeking refuge in the 7th century. In 1926, Kahlil Gibran expressed his desire to purchase the monastery as a retreat and final resting place. Although he died before fulfilling this dream, his sister Mariana bought the property and ensured his vision was realized. Gibran's remains were brought to Bsharri in 1931, and the museum was founded in 1935. The museum's collection includes over 440 original paintings and drawings by Gibran, as well as his furniture, personal belongings, and manuscripts from his New York studio. Visitors can explore the 16 rooms across three floors, each filled with exhibits that highlight different aspects of Gibran's life and work. The museum also features Gibran's tomb, offering a personal connection to the artist. The building itself reflects Gibran's artistic spirit and the beauty of Lebanese heritage. Beyond the exhibits, the museum provides a serene environment for reflection and inspiration. The surrounding gardens offer stunning views of the Qadisha Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, enhancing the overall experience. The museum is open daily, except Mondays, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
