Discover more about Teleferique du Liban

The Teleferique du Liban, an iconic cable car, connects the vibrant seaside of Jounieh to the majestic heights of Harissa. Founded in 1965 by the Boulos family, the Teleferique was inspired by the cable cars of the Swiss Alps and was built to make the pilgrimage site of Our Lady of Lebanon more accessible. The ride itself is a thrilling adventure, showcasing Lebanon's diverse landscape. As you glide up the mountain, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the sparkling blue Mediterranean Sea on one side and the lush, green mountains on the other. The nine-minute ride takes you over a steep journey, over the main highway and beautiful towns nestled in greenery. At the top of the mountain sits the shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, a towering 15-ton bronze statue of the Virgin Mary with arms extended towards Beirut. The site includes a chapel, church and basilica. Visitors can reach the shrine via a funicular from the Teleferique. The area surrounding the Teleferique features cafes and shops.
