Driving
From Butha-Buthe, head east on the A1 towards Mokhotlong. The pass is well-marked, and the road is paved, though it can be potholed closer to Mokhotlong. Be cautious of large trucks and potential snow or ice in winter. There are no tolls on this route. Parking is available at viewpoints along the pass.
Walking
From the center of Butha-Buthe, start at the main square and head east on the A1 towards Mokhotlong. After about 2 kilometers, look for signs to Mahlasela Pass. Follow the signs onto a smaller dirt road for approximately 8 kilometers to a parking area. From there, a marked path leads to the summit, which can be steep and rocky. Allow several hours for the hike. There are no costs associated with walking.
