Car
From the town of Gbarnga in Eastern Region, head southwest on the main road (Liberia Route 1) towards Monrovia. Continue on this road for approximately 64 kilometers until you reach the junction at Kakata. At the junction, take a left onto Liberia Route 7 towards Buchanan. After about 54 kilometers, you will reach the coastal town of Buchanan. From Buchanan, follow the signs to Lake Piso, which is about 20 kilometers northwest of the town. The drive will take you through beautiful rural landscapes, and you may want to stop for refreshments in Buchanan.
Public Transportation
From Gbarnga, find a local taxi or shared vehicle heading towards Monrovia. The fare for this trip is usually around 200-300 Liberian Dollars (LRD). Upon reaching Monrovia, you will need to take another vehicle towards Buchanan. The fare for this stretch is approximately 500 LRD. Once in Buchanan, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (okada) to take you to Lake Piso, which should cost around 200-300 LRD. Be sure to negotiate the fare in advance.
Motorcycle Taxi
If you are in Buchanan, you can hire a motorcycle taxi to take you directly to Lake Piso. This is a quick and efficient way to reach the lake, taking about 30 minutes. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey; expect to pay around 200-300 LRD for the trip.
