Getting There

You will need to take Route 2, which is the main highway connecting various regions. Follow the signs for Tripoli, and stay on Route 2 for approximately 200 kilometers until you reach the outskirts of the city. Once you enter Tripoli, navigate towards Al Hara Alkabir Street. The Arc of Marcus Aurelius is located on Al Hara Alkabir St, easily identifiable as you approach the Old City area of Tripoli.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, head to the nearest bus station in the Tibesti Mountains. Look for buses heading towards Tripoli, which should run regularly. The bus ride can take several hours, so be prepared for a longer journey. Once you arrive at the main bus station in Tripoli, ask for directions to Al Hara Alkabir Street. You can either walk or take a taxi to reach the Arc of Marcus Aurelius, which is about 2 kilometers from the bus station. A taxi should cost around 10 LYD (Libyan Dinar).
