Gafadura Hütte LAV, managed by the Liechtenstein Alpine Club, is perched at 1428 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the Rhine Valley and the village of Planken. Originally built as a royal hunting lodge in 1926/27, it was later transformed into a mountain hut, becoming a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. The hut's history is intertwined with the story of Ferdinand Beck, a local forest warden who convinced Prince Johann II of the need for a hunting lodge in the Gafadura area. The construction of the Gafadura road and the lodge itself was a significant undertaking, with materials transported manually up the mountain. In 1954, Prince Franz Josef II sold the hunting lodge, and in 1968, it was acquired by the Liechtenstein Alpine Club, who opened it to the public after renovations. Today, Gafadura Hütte LAV is renowned for its traditional Liechtenstein cuisine, featuring locally sourced ingredients. Visitors can enjoy hearty soups, stews, and refreshing beverages while soaking in the alpine atmosphere. The hut is ideally situated along several hiking trails, making it a perfect stop for refueling after a day of exploring the Alps. The friendly staff and cozy ambiance add to the overall experience, ensuring a memorable visit. The hut is open from mid-May to mid-October and offers 42 dormitory-style beds for overnight stays. It's a popular starting point for hikes to the Drei Schwestern peaks and other scenic trails. The Gafadura Hütte is more than just a restaurant; it's a cultural landmark that embodies the spirit of the Liechtenstein Alps.
