Driving
The most direct way to reach Obersee is by car from Näfels. Follow the signs west to Oberseetal or Obersee. Be aware that the road is a narrow, winding one-lane road that ascends approximately 7km to the lake. Parking is available in a dirt lot next to the Berghotel Obersee at the east end of the lake. On busy days, the road may be closed if parking is full, requiring you to park in Näfels and hike up (approximately 4 km with 525m elevation gain). Parking is free.
Public Transport & Walking
While there is no direct bus service to Obersee, you can take a train to Näfels-Mollis station. From there, you can either hike to Obersee (approximately 2.5 hours) or take the Obersee Taxi (Rufbus Armin Fischli). The taxi service can be reached at +41 55 612 10 72. A single fare on the Glarnerbus from Ziegelbrücke to Näfels-Mollis costs around CHF 4-6. The taxi fare to Obersee is approximately CHF 30-40.
