The monument itself features a bronze bust of Rheinberger placed on a stone pedestal. A relief depicting a lyre, a symbol of music, is located to the left of the bust. To the right, an inscription reads: 'SEINEM GROSSEN SOHNE / DEM KOMPONISTEN JOSEF GABRIEL VON RHEINBERGER / GEHEIMRAT UND PROFESSOR / 1839 VADUZ 1910 MÜNCHEN / ERRICHTET LIECHTENSTEIN DIES EHRENMAL'. This translates to: 'To his great son / the composer Josef Gabriel von Rheinberger / Privy Councilor and Professor / 1839 Vaduz 1910 Munich / Liechtenstein erected this monument'.
