Situated at 435 meters above sea level in the village of Bendern-Gamprin, it's a peaceful location surrounded by a dense deciduous forest.The lake and its surroundings have been under nature conservation since 1961. Over the years, efforts have been made to improve the water quality, including the removal of trash and the introduction of a pipeline from a nearby inland canal to provide fresh water and oxygen. These efforts have helped stabilize the water quality.The area is home to various plant and animal species, including reeds, hedges, trees, crayfish, and swans. The lake provides a habitat for various waterfowl like little grebes, moorhens, mallards, and coots.
