Discover more about Red House, Vaduz

The Red House is one of Vaduz's most recognizable landmarks. This stepped-gabled house with an adjoining residential tower and barn dates back to 1338. The house gets its name from the dark red paint that has adorned it since the mid-19th century. Originally built in the Middle Ages, the Red House has gone through several renovations, preserving its historical significance. The tower, added in 1904, features a slightly bent pyramid roof and chamfered tower corners. The exterior façade displays unclad, unhewn natural stone on the first floor and the first two upper floors. The Red House has had several owners throughout its history, including the St. Johann monastery. Since 1807, the Rheinberger family has owned the house. The surrounding vineyard, known as Abtswingert (abbey vineyard), still retains its name due to the historical ownership by the monastery. Though the interior is not open to the public, the building's striking appearance and vineyard make it a popular spot for photography and scenic walks.
