Step back in time at the Bäuerliches Wohnmuseum in Schellenberg, where you can experience the life of Liechtenstein's rural population around the year 1900. The museum is located in the Biedermann House, one of the oldest wooden houses in Liechtenstein, constructed in the blockhouse style in 1518. This makes the house itself a significant historical artifact. The Biedermann House owes its name to the Biedermann family, who lived in it for over 150 years, from 1814 to 1964. The house's construction and layout reflect the late medieval building and economic practices prevalent in the region of Liechtenstein. The house was moved several times by its owners. In 1993, it was moved to its current location and placed under historical preservation. Inside the museum, you'll find exhibits detailing the domestic life and working environment of Liechtenstein's farmers. The displays include furniture, tools, and other everyday objects that paint a vivid picture of the challenges and traditions of rural life in Liechtenstein. The museum provides insight into a way of life that has shaped Liechtenstein's cultural identity.
