Bus
From Jonava, head to the central bus station located at Maironio g. 1. Take the bus heading to Širvintos or Kernavė, which departs regularly. The bus ride lasts about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Kernavė bus stop, exit the bus and you will be in the town center. From there, follow the signs to the Kernavė Archaeological Site, which is a short 10-minute walk towards the south.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and want to explore the area, you can rent a bicycle in Jonava. Start from the center of Jonava and head towards the Širvinta River along the cycling paths. Follow the river downstream for about 12 kilometers, which will take approximately 1 hour. Keep an eye out for signs indicating the direction to Kernavė. Upon reaching Kernavė, you can easily find the archaeological site.
Walking
For a scenic route, you can walk from Jonava to Kernavė. Start from Jonava’s main square and head towards the east, following the Vilnia River path. It’s approximately 13 kilometers, so be prepared for a 2-3 hour walk, depending on your pace. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way. Once you reach Kernavė, ask locals for directions to the archaeological site, which is well-known and easy to find.
