Car
If you're driving from central Kaunas, take Maironio Street heading north towards the Vytautas the Great Bridge. Cross the bridge, and continue straight onto S. Daukanto Street. Follow the signs for the A1 highway towards Vilnius. After approximately 3 km, look for signs indicating Nemunas Island. You will find a parking area nearby where you can leave your car. Note that parking may incur a small fee, so have some change ready.
Public Transportation
To reach Nemunas Island via public transport, head to the nearest bus or trolleybus stop in Kaunas. You can take bus number 16 or trolleybus number 1, which both bring you closer to the area. Get off at the 'Žalgirio Arena' stop. From there, you will have about a 15-minute walk along the riverside. Follow the pedestrian paths leading to the island, and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Tickets for the bus/trolleybus can be purchased at kiosks or from the driver, and prices generally range around €1.
Bicycle
For a more active approach, consider cycling to Nemunas Island. Kaunas has a network of bike paths that make it easy to navigate. Start from the city center and follow the path along the Neris River. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes. There are bike rental services available throughout the city, and prices are typically around €5-€10 per day.
Walking
If you're already close to the waterfront or in the surrounding neighborhoods, walking to Nemunas Island is a delightful option. Simply head towards the Neris River and follow the path that leads to the island. The scenic walk offers picturesque views of the river and the city. It will take about 20-30 minutes depending on your starting point.
