Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    Start at the Lake Charles Transit Center located at 1001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA. Board the Route 5 bus towards Sulphur. The bus will take you along a direct route to Sulphur. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the stop closest to the intersection of Ruth Street and Highway 90 (which is near the Sulphur area). From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to the Creole Nature Trail Visitor Center at 2740 Ruth Street, Sulphur, LA.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer to bike, start at the Lakefront Promenade in Lake Charles. Head south on Lakeshore Drive until you reach the intersection with Highway 90. Turn left onto Highway 90, and continue biking for approximately 10 miles. You will pass through the city of Sulphur. Once you reach Ruth Street, turn right and continue for about 1 mile to reach the Creole Nature Trail Visitor Center at 2740 Ruth Street. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow traffic regulations.

  • Walking

    If you are up for a long walk, begin at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Walk west on Lakeshore Drive towards the I-10 overpass. When you reach the overpass, continue towards Highway 90. Cross the highway and follow the sidewalk along Highway 90 heading southwest for about 6 miles until you reach Sulphur. Once in Sulphur, turn onto Ruth Street and continue for about 1 mile to the Creole Nature Trail Visitor Center at 2740 Ruth Street. This route will take you through residential areas and may take approximately 2 hours.
