Car
If you are driving from Moramanga, take the RN2 road heading east towards Alaotra Mangoro. Continue on this road for approximately 80 kilometers until you reach the junction near Ambatondrazaka. Turn left onto the RN45 road and follow the signs to Lake Alaotra, which is located about 20 kilometers to the north. The lake will be on your right as you approach the area. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as gas stations may be sparse along this route.
Taxi-Brousse
From Moramanga, you can take a taxi-brousse to Ambatondrazaka, which is a common form of public transport in Madagascar. The taxi-brousse leaves from the Moramanga taxi-brousse station, and the fare is typically around 15,000 MGA (Malagasy Ariary). The journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once in Ambatondrazaka, you can find another taxi-brousse heading towards Lake Alaotra. The fare for this leg of the trip is approximately 5,000 MGA, and it should take about 30 minutes. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they are heading to Lake Alaotra.
