Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are driving, head east from Amoron'i Mania on the Route Nationale 7 (RN7). Continue for approximately 35 kilometers. Once you reach the small town of Antananarivo, follow the signs to Lemurs Park, which is located at the coordinates -18.954311, 47.358701. The journey should take around 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic. Make sure to check your fuel before leaving as gas stations can be sparse along the route.
Public Transportation
From Amoron'i Mania, take a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) that heads towards Antananarivo. The taxi-brousse station is located in the center of Amoron'i Mania. The fare is usually around 10,000 Ariary (about $3), but prices can vary. Once you arrive in Antananarivo, you can take another taxi-brousse or a local taxi to reach Lemurs Park. Make sure to inform the driver that you are going to Lemurs Park, as they may not be familiar with the destination. The total travel time will be approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on waiting times and traffic.
Combination of Taxi and Walking
If you prefer not to wait for public transportation, you can hire a taxi from Amoron'i Mania directly to Lemurs Park. This option is more expensive, with fares typically around 50,000 Ariary (about $14), but will take around 1 hour. Once you arrive at Lemurs Park, be prepared to walk a short distance from the parking area to the entrance.
