If you are traveling by car, head west on Avenue de l'Indépendance from Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. Continue on RN1 for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach the town of Ampefy. Once in Ampefy, look for signs to Ilot de la Vierge or ask locals for directions. The exact location is at XP5M+FR7, which is near the lakeside area. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Ilot de la Vierge using public transportation, start by taking a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) from Antananarivo to Ampefy. The taxi-brousse departs from the northern taxi-brousse station in Antananarivo, and the fare is typically around 10,000 Ariary (approximately 3 USD). The journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Ampefy, you can either walk to Ilot de la Vierge, which is approximately 2 kilometers from the taxi-brousse drop-off point, or hire a local taxi for a short ride. If you decide to walk from Ampefy to Ilot de la Vierge, start from the center of Ampefy and head towards the lake.
