Getting There

  • Walking

    Start in the center of Antsiranana at the main market (Marché de Dzaoudzi). From the market, head southeast on Avenue de l'Indépendance. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Rue du 26 Juin. Turn left onto Rue du 26 Juin. Walk for approximately 300 meters until you see a sign for the Mahatsingo Sacred Tree on your right. Follow the path indicated by the sign, which will lead you to the sacred tree.

  • Bicycle

    Begin at the beach area near Plage de Ramena. From there, cycle northwest along the coastline for about 5 kilometers until you reach the main road (Route Nationale). Turn left and continue cycling for roughly 2 kilometers. When you see the sign for the Mahatsingo Sacred Tree, turn right and follow the designated path to the tree, which is about 1 kilometer further down.

    Catch a local taxi-brousse (shared minibus) from the central station in Antsiranana heading towards Hell-Ville. Inform the driver that you are going to the Mahatsingo Sacred Tree. After about a 20-minute ride, disembark when you reach Hell-Ville. From there, walk about 500 meters on Avenue de la République until you reach the sign for the Mahatsingo Sacred Tree to your left.
