Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the city center of Manakara and head north on Route Nationale 12. Continue for about 50 kilometers until you reach the town of Soanierana. Once in Soanierana, use GPS coordinates (-24.987533, 46.921983) to navigate directly to Cascade de Manantantely. The last stretch may require driving on unpaved roads, so be prepared for possible rough terrain. Parking is available near the site.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) from Manakara to Soanierana. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and the fare is around 5,000 Ariary (approximately $1.50). Once you arrive in Soanierana, you can either walk or hire a local guide for the remaining distance to Cascade de Manantantely, which is about 4 kilometers away. Local guides can be found near the taxi-brousse drop-off point, and the cost for a guided walk is typically around 10,000 Ariary ($3).

• Walking

  If you choose to walk from Soanierana, head northwest from the town center. Follow the dirt paths that lead toward the forest area, keeping an eye out for local signage. The walk is about 4 kilometers and takes about an hour. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the path can be uneven and steep in some areas.
