Car

From the center of Toamasina, head east on Route Nationale 2 (RN2) towards Mahavelona. Continue along the RN2 for approximately 60 kilometers. Upon reaching Mahavelona, look for the signs directing you to Fort Manda. The fort is located at the coordinates 8GC4+VCJ, which should be easy to navigate to using a GPS. Parking may be available near the site.

Public Transportation (Taxi-Brousse)

Start at the main taxi-brousse station in Toamasina. Look for a taxi-brousse heading to Mahavelona. The fare will typically be around 5,000 to 10,000 Ariary, depending on the demand. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Mahavelona, ask local residents for directions to Fort Manda, which is approximately 10 minutes away by foot from the main road.

Local Taxi

If you prefer more direct transit, take a local taxi from Toamasina to Mahavelona. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it might cost around 50,000 to 70,000 Ariary. The drive will take approximately 1 hour. Upon arriving in Mahavelona, instruct the driver to take you to Fort Manda, located at 8GC4+VCJ.

Walking

If you find yourself in Mahavelona and already near the vicinity of Fort Manda, you can walk to the fort. From the main road, head towards the coordinates 8GC4+VCJ. The walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the local scenery.
