Getting There

Car

From the center of Sava, head southeast on Route Nationale 5 (RN5) towards Antalaha. Keep driving for approximately 40 kilometers. You will pass through several small villages along the way. Watch for signs directing you to Savako, which is a mountain peak. After about 30 minutes on RN5, take a left turn onto a smaller road that leads towards Savako. Drive for another 15 kilometers until you reach the base of the mountain. Parking is available at the site.
Public Transportation

Start at the main taxi-brousse station in Sava. Look for a taxi-brousse heading towards Antalaha, which usually costs about 10,000 Ariary ($2.50). The journey takes around 1 hour. Once you arrive at Antalaha, transfer to a local taxi-brousse or a private vehicle that can take you toward Savako. This second leg of the journey will cost approximately 5,000 Ariary ($1.25) and may take an additional 30 minutes to reach the base of the mountain.
