Walking
If you are starting from the Augusta Civic Center, exit the building and head east on Civic Center Drive. Continue straight for about 0.2 miles until you reach the intersection with State Street. Turn left onto State Street. Walk for approximately 0.5 miles, and you will see the Maine State Museum on your left at 230 State St. The museum is located just past the Maine State House.

From the Augusta City Center, locate the nearest bus stop for the Kennebec Explorer. Board the bus heading towards the State House. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes. Disembark at the State House stop. From there, the Maine State Museum is just a short 5-minute walk. Head east on State Street, and the museum will be on your left at 230 State St.

If you have a bike, start at the Kennebec River Rail Trail. Head north on the trail until you reach the intersection with State Street. Turn left onto State Street and ride for about 0.5 miles. The Maine State Museum will be on your right at 230 State St, just past the Maine State House.
