Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Baxter State Park, you will want to start from the main park road. Navigate to the intersection of the Park Tote Road and the Ki Road (also known as Katahdin Iron Works Road). Follow Ki Road for approximately 12 miles. The road may be gravel and can be rough in areas, so drive cautiously. Look for signs directing you to the Katahdin Iron Works State Historic Site. There is no entry fee for the site itself, but be aware that Baxter State Park may have its own entry fees.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options to Katahdin Iron Works are limited. If you are starting from a larger town such as Millinocket or Greenville, you may need to take a regional bus service to the nearest stop. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining distance to Katahdin Iron Works.
