From there, you can take a ferry from the ferry terminal at 12 Custom House Wharf in Portland to get to Fort Gorges.

    From Biddeford, walk to the nearest bus stop and take the York County Community Action Corporation bus (Route 19) to Portland. The bus will take you directly to the downtown area. Once you arrive in downtown Portland, walk towards the waterfront area and head to the ferry terminal located at 12 Custom House Wharf. Take the ferry to Fort Gorges. Be sure to check the ferry schedule ahead of time for departure times.

  • Biking

    If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from a local shop in Biddeford. Start on Main Street and ride northeast until you reach the Saco River. Once you hit the river, follow the riverwalk path which leads to the waterfront in Portland. The total ride is approximately 2 miles. Once you reach the waterfront, secure your bike and take the ferry from 12 Custom House Wharf to Fort Gorges.
