If you're traveling by car to Birch Point State Park, start by getting onto US-1 N from your location in Downeast. Follow US-1 N for approximately 30 miles until you reach the town of Rockland. In Rockland, take a right onto ME-73 S (also known as South Main Street). Continue on ME-73 S for about 6 miles until you reach a fork; take the left fork to stay on ME-73 S. After another 2 miles, you will see signs for Birch Point State Park. Turn left onto S Shore Drive and follow it for about 1 mile. The park entrance will be on your right at 459 S Shore Dr, Owls Head, ME 04854. There is a parking fee for non-residents, usually around $4-$6.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus service from your location in Downeast to Rockland. Look for a local bus service that connects to the Knox County Transit. Once in Rockland, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Birch Point State Park. The route is bike-friendly, but be cautious of traffic on ME-73. Once you arrive, you can find parking for your bike at the park entrance.
