Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, begin your journey from the center of Millinocket. Head south on Katahdin Avenue, which will turn into Route 11. Continue on Route 11 for about 6 miles until you see the sign for Katahdin Loop Road on your right. Turn onto Katahdin Loop Road (Logging Rd) and follow it for approximately 4 miles to reach various scenic spots along the loop.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, take the bus from Millinocket to the nearest drop-off point on Route 11. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Katahdin Loop Road, as public transportation does not go directly to the loop. Expect taxi fares to range from $15 to $25, depending on your starting location.

• Biking

  If you're up for a biking adventure, rent a bicycle in Millinocket. Start at the Millinocket Town Hall and head south towards Route 11. Follow the same route as mentioned for cars. This is a scenic ride, but be prepared for some moderate traffic. It’s about a 10-mile ride from Millinocket to the entrance of Katahdin Loop Road.

• Walking

  Walking to Katahdin Loop Road is not recommended due to the distance (approximately 10 miles from Millinocket) and the lack of sidewalks along Route 11. However, if you decide to walk, ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Start at Millinocket and head south on Katahdin Avenue, transitioning to Route 11, then turn onto Katahdin Loop Road.
