Getting There

• Public Bus

  From downtown Portland, walk to the Portland Transportation Center at 100 Thompson's Point Rd. Take the Greyhound bus towards Freeport. It will take approximately 30 minutes to reach Freeport. Once you arrive at the Freeport bus station, walk about 0.5 miles to Desert of Maine by heading west on Main St, then turning right onto Desert Rd.

• Bicycle

  From downtown Portland, you can rent a bicycle at one of the local bike rental shops. Follow the Eastern Promenade Trail, which offers a beautiful ride along the coast. After about 7 miles, you'll merge onto Route 1. Continue on Route 1 for another 5 miles until you reach Freeport. From there, head east on Desert Rd for about 1 mile to reach the Desert of Maine.

• Rideshare

  Use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft from your location in Portland. Simply enter 'Desert of Maine, 95 Desert Rd, Freeport, ME 04032' as your destination. The drive will take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk to Desert of Maine. Start from downtown Portland, head north on Congress St toward the Fore River, then take the pedestrian path that connects to Route 1. Follow Route 1 north for approximately 12 miles, which will eventually lead you to Freeport. Once you reach Freeport, turn onto Desert Rd and walk about 1 mile to the Desert of Maine.
