Start at the center of Saco, specifically at the Saco Train Station located on Main Street. Head northeast on Main Street toward Beach Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Turn right onto Route 1 and continue for about 2 miles. You will pass by various shops and restaurants along the way. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating Falmouth. Once you reach the Falmouth area, look for Mackworth Island signs leading you to the entrance. Follow the signs to the parking area and the pedestrian entrance to Mackworth Island.

From Saco, walk to the nearest bus stop on Main Street near the Saco Train Station. Board the Metro Bus Route 1 heading toward Portland. Inform the bus driver that you are going to Falmouth. The bus will take you directly to the Falmouth area. Once you arrive at the Falmouth bus terminal, walk towards Route 1 and look for signs to Mackworth Island. It is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop to the island entrance.
